COVID Information: What You Need to Know Before You Go
To All Our Valued Schools
We understand the impacts of COVID have resulted in attractions implementing additional precautions and protocols with the primary objective to keep everyone safe and we appreciate your understanding in this ever-changing environment.
We have provided the below links to help you navigate the steps to take before travelling in order to comply with COVID safe practices, we also acknowledge that this is a daily changing situation, and we recommend that you check with your school’s risk assessment officer should your school require any additional information or adapt the below information in accordance with the latest government directives and guidance.
Check in Canberra APP
Please note It is mandatory for all visitors to Canberra including teachers, bus drivers and accompanying adults, and students 16 years or older to check in with Check In CBR before entry. The app is easily downloadable onto a smartphone (see link or through the app store). QR codes will be located at the Schools’ entry and the main entry to many attractions including the WAR Memorial, Parliament House, and AIS for use by visitors on arrival.
Pre Arrival Health Declaration
In addition to the above, a set of protocols has been developed by NCETP, which have been approved by ACT Health in aid for schools to be confident that there are measures in place for schools visiting Canberra attractions.
Please find attached important information for schools that can be downloaded from the below links
- Covid-19 Personal Health Declaration
- Protocols Checklist – Teachers
- Protocols Checklist – Parents, Guardians, Carers
All schools travelling to Canberra must ensure that they receive a signed Personal Health Declaration from all students (signed by parents). These forms must be signed and dated by parents only on the first day of travel and handed to the organising teacher on that morning. They cannot be collected prior to day of travel. Should a student arrive on the morning of travel without their signed form then the teacher must contact the student’s parent and have them complete a paper or electronic form prior to departure. Students MUST have a completed form.
The forms do not need to be completed for teachers, but the organising teacher must have a full list of teachers and contact numbers for those on the excursion. They must have details of all students and teachers that are travelling in their ‘bubble’. The Teacher in charge must take all completed forms with them on the excursion. They do not need to show them, as they would already have ticked the box in BCE to say that they have collected them. They will only be required should there be a case of COVID arising on the trip.
COVID SAFE Policy
Some attractions in Canberra may request to see a copy of the schools COVID Safe policy. We suggest you carry a copy of the policy with you. In addition, AWGT may request a copy of the Schools COVID Safe policy prior to the excursion should an accommodation or attraction request this information.
